Sandhill Strolling Through Strands

Sandhill cranes are opportunistic eaters. Grains, grubs, insects, frogs, rodents, roots – even smaller birds are a part of their varied diet. On this particular autumn day, this crane was perusing a field that had yet to be flooded,. I just love how the strands of wild grasses caught the afternoon light – they simply glisten!
