I took this shot just minutes before pulling out of my mother’s Kansas City-ish driveway. Although it had been oppressively hot and humid every day of my near 3-week visit, I awoke on this particular morning to a beautifully cool and autumny drizzle.
Wanting to get on the road as soon as possible, I quickly outfitted Sir Whimsy Bacon in his “bra” (dog harness) and rushed him out to the grassy suburban-ey common area island-ey patch in front of my mom’s house to do his business.
One could argue I’m not a REAL photographer–a REAL photographer would have delayed EVERYTHING the moment she laid eyes on these gorgeous mushrooms which had sprung up as if by magic overnight–but no. I hastily pulled out my iPhone and took some quick snapshots, feeling a bit annoyed that I didn’t have more time to give these little jewels their deserved artistic justice.
But you know what? It’s perfect just the way it is. If I’d dug out my Fuji X-T2 I’d definitely have a larger res image, but I just love what happened. I love the Instagram filter I chose and I love the extremely low viewpoint, which… let’s face it, I probably would not have been able to match with a larger camera.
Is there a BEST camera for any given situation? YES! The one you have with you and/or The one you can afford and/or The one that makes you happy are my most excellent answers.
Now, GO! Take a step toward making something that matters–whatever that is for you. Go! Go! Go!
