Fly away home!

Alas! Today is the day I fly away home to chilly New Mexico. This snowbird has had a fabulous time in Florida visiting my family. I’ soooo looking forward to sifting through my wildlife photographs over the coming weeks and months. It’s shaping up to be an incredible bird season – by week’s end, I hope to be back in the Bosque del Apache for a last stab at photographing the sandhill cranes and snow geese before they begin their migration back north. Most definitely, I have my work cut out to me in the post-processing realm… my trips are piling up!

I love both the color and imperfection in this shot – ideally, I’d like a bit more sky along the top of the image, but when following a bird flying overhead through a telephoto lens can be hit or miss. Miraculously, I got the whole heron in the frame!

More to come…
