Experimenting with Cone Petals

The post-processing experimentation continues with another image I shot at the Bishop’s Garden at the Washington Cathedral. As I rummage through so many flower images I’m compelled to shake things up and play a little – something I believe is imperative for every artist to do.

When I look at the original version of this image I wonder if I took it too far. The deep greens and blacks in the background have been altered for a more granular and graphic look. Same image, different treatments. I don’t think one is better than the other, though you might disagree with me.

My designer’s eye prefers the flatter, more graphic version. But then again, my photographer’s eye like the second one.

Speaking of design – do you know I’m a professional designer? Now you do! I also have special offers for new clients who find me through susanpreston.studio. It’s true. So why not hop over to ClearlyPresentable.com and give my portfolio a look?
